St. Paul's Church, Kandy, was inaugurated in 1843 at the present site. However, records show that long before that, the Church in Kandy existed.
From the very early 1800s, the Church in Kandy maintained records of Baptisms, Marriages and Deaths. St. Paul's Church, Kandy, is in possession of invaluable records from as far back as 1823. Most of these records are hand-written.
As the pictures here show, the record books are in immaculate condition. St. Paul's Church, Kandy, has complete details of the Garrison Cemetery adjoining the church.
Details of Baptisms, Marriages and Deaths recorded at St. Pauls, Church, Kandy, can be obtained on request. These records will be certified by the Church and with photographic evidence if required.
A nominal fee will be charged for searching through the original documents to trace a record. A photo image of a record requested for will be forwarded by email. The fees charged will be utilized for preserving these valuable documents which are over 100 years old for the benefit of future generations.
It is to be noted that the records available with us are the original handwritten entries found in the official Baptism and Burial record books of the church and not Birth or Death certificates.

For records up to 1915 – GBP 20 per search
For records after 1916 - GBP 15 per search
An extract of a record endorsed by the incumbent Vicar of St. Paul’s Church Kandy, can be issued for an additional fee of GBP 5 per record.
